Fifty Five is a gem in Camden only a four minute walk from the tube station, a high end cocktail bar with a twist, good tunes rocking from the 70's until present day, you wont find any DJs playing funky house!
Its a party led from the front, with a wide selection of seating from sexy candle lit booths to cocktail tables giving front row seats to all the action from behind the bar.
Fifty-Five was the dream of a bartender called Stuart Powick, in 1997 he started his career at T.G.I. Fridays Covent Garden and trained as a Master Bartender. In 2002 he traveled around the world with his best mate and bartended in Canada and France. After his adventures he joined the legendary Be At One where he soon became General Manager and polished his trade, after many great years at Be At One in September of 2006 he bought a run down pub, after three months of building and painting Fifty-Five was created. Four old friends and professional bartenders came along for the ride and in the middle of December 2006 Fifty-Five was born. (Updated 25/08/2008)
Customer Reviews for Fifty Five Bar
“It is a nice bar with quite friendly staff and the happy hour is fantastic value. However there is no sound system and little atmosphere, the toilets are a tight squeeze too but that's not an issue for me. I recommend it to all my friends and plan to go again soon.”

“Went to the 55 bar for the NYE, paid £20 to get in and was very very disappointed!! It was just a normal night in a normal club...
5 minutes before midnight the atmosphere was still dead (due too the lack of music), people still sitting and no one on the dancefloor...
Midnight passed , alcohol helping, the place got a bit merrier, finally....
02:00 am the barmen, too busy chatting to the girls, couldn't be asked anymore to serve the customer and were just switching from a loosy music to an other on their computer!! It was all about them having fun rather than keeping a good atmosphere till 03:00.
It took my mate 35 mins to get a drink at the bar upstairs...could do better surely.
The music was not good at all and the dancefloor was getting empty very quickly.
Fair enough cocktails were good, but on a NYE I was expecting a bit more.
We were 10 of us on that night, well we'll never go back there.”

“A bit of a disappointment, as i'd read the previous reviews, quality of the cocktails also left a lot to be desired...”

“I love this place! It has an atmosphere unlike any other bar in London; completely unpretentious, killer music - so good NOT to have to listen to the same old generic, boring, background, clubby house music that you hear in 99% of London's cocktail bars. Talking of cocktails - they're also killer! The menu is a bible and happy hour is just the best way to start off the night.
Also recommended (although deadly if you have work the next day) are Sunday's where it's 2-4-1 all night long!
The only thing I would say is that you will have to wait in happy hour but it's worth it - you're getting free drinks and you can see that the staff are working so hard to serve you as quick as possible.
I would recommend this place but I would really like to keep it a secret for myself!”

“What a find!! Such a breathe of fresh air for Camden, somewhere chic and sophisticated but also unpretentious and loads of fun! Delicious cocktails made to perfection by professional bartenders who really know their stuff! And everytime i've gone (mostly at weekends) there is always a party kicking off.”
