  • Valentines Day in London 2006 - ideas for where to go & how to be romantic in London

Searching for Inspiration this Valentine's Day?

"Journeys end in lovers meeting
Every wise man's son doth know."

So said Mr Shakespeare, whose shrewd words will ring true this Valentine’s Day if you’re clever enough to arrange an enchanting rendezvous for yourself and your beloved. While the evening’s diary is likely to be stacked with plans of wining and dining – lest we forget the abundance of amorous activities and quiet corners this big old city has to offer.

Many complain about the over-commercialisation of this “holiday,” while others can’t even agree on its true roots. In one account Romans paid tribute to the sex and fertility goddess, Februata Juno, while others state that mid-February marks the beginning of the birds mating period. Even the broadly spread tale of St. Valentine – who married loved-up couples in spite of the laws against it – is contested. Most will agree that if anything, the day is meant to celebrate love, and as long as you’re around that special person, nothing else really matters.

Sometimes a little something extra, like a lit up cityscape, a subtle yet familiar scent or a particular song, will enhance the moment just enough to make it one you and yours will never forget. For this reason Fluid has assembled a list of sexy settings in which to woo that special someone. Personalise them with your own touches and no doubt the love will flow.
