Greatest Hits: The Shadow Lounge Birthday
Since its glittering opening on the evening of July 13th 2001, The Shadow Lounge has become a Mecca for the great and the good - disco diva or dance-floor dandy, and as the capital's No.1 gay venue, it still remains the hottest social point in town. The club continues to attract attention from celebrities and media alike.
The Shadow Lounge introduced London to a venue where you can enjoy either an evening relaxing with friends or alternatively dancing the night away to light lyrical funky lounge sounds produced by one of the resident DJs.
It is now July 2010. Time has come for another birthday party and The Shadow Lounge knows how to deliver legendary ones.
“We are bringing back original hosts, DJs and staff for this special night. Inviting people who made history at Shadow and that made Shadow Lounge the great place it is” says general manager Tolis Simpson.
Tolis, together with Shaun Given, were part of Shadow Lounge's opening team back in 2001. They both left the club at some point but returned in 2009 to lead a regeneration program and bring the venue back to its formal glory.
Shaun adds: “it all started again before Christmas last year with the first phase of renovation. We then presented it to the members on New Year’s Eve and at the Gold Party in March, when Cilla Black, Paul O’Grady and Graham Norton danced the night away. Since them we are doing a monthly members party – there was the Greek Summer Party and the Adam & Steve Party. The members always get a preview before we open to the public with free drinks and other little presents. It is our way of saying Thank You to those who supported us throughout the years.”
Complimentary drinks reception, VIP appearances, the Shadow Lounge dancers, a surprise show by Eurocreme, prize giveaways and the much sought after Shadow Lounge goodie bags will take over the star-studded dancefloor for this long-awaited night.
Polish off your dancing shoes, choose the most fabulous outfit in your wardrobe and come down to Shadow Lounge. Don’t forget: in doubt, apply more glitter!
