Texture Restaurant & Champagne Bar opened in September 2007 and is the brainchild of Agnar Sverrisson and Xavier Rousset who met whilst working under Raymond Blanc at La Manoir Aux Quat’ Saisons.
Originally from Iceland, partner and Chef Director Agnar worked at some of the world’s leading Michelin-starred restaurants before joining Blanc’s team in 2002 where he rose to become head chef.
French-born Xavier is one of the UK’s finest sommeliers. Emerging from the Hotel du Vin stable he won the UK Sommelier of the Year competition in 2002 shortly before becoming Master Sommelier at the tender age of 23.
Sverrisson and Rousset have created a vision for a restaurant where wine and food are both important. The result is Texture – a 60 seat restaurant and 30 seat Champagne Bar offering excellence in equal measures.
Elegantly designed the bar welcomes diners for pre-dinner aperitifs or those who want to take advantage of Rousset’s extraordinary Champagne and wine list. Five sparkling wines and Champagnes are offered by the glass and a further 88 Champagnes by the bottle making Texture one of London’s most extensive Champagne destinations. Rousset’s exceptional knowledge and connections has helped him create a diverse wine list with numerous niche vintages and producers. (Updated 28/03/2008)
Customer Reviews for Texture Restaurant & Champagne Bar
“We ate in Texture last night, really enjoyed the champagne bar, the service we received from start to finish was exceptional. For me the best thing about the meal was the bread so delicious I ate two bread rolls before my meal, although this seemed rather greedy I am glad I did!! The food was so beautifully presented but just tasted so strange my friend and I (and our husbands didn't really enjoy any of it), some of it so strange with quite strong flavours that we couldn't recognise but dominated everything we ate! We got the giggles and the fisherman's friend meringues just finished us off, we felt like we were taking part in our very own "emperors new clothes" experiment and for £170.00 for two we all came out still hungry!”

“Excellent service and splendid decor, food very good (try the lamb its my favourite). Definitely worth going again. Nice atmosphere at the Champagne bar. Hip young crowd. Listing gives this as Scandinavian cuisine cant really see that, perhaps ingredients are but not the cuisine itself, I would say European fusion.”
