Situated on King Street in Covent Garden, Navajo Joes Mexican Restaurant and Bar certainly has a prime location. The low key facade does not attract too much attention from the rabble of tourists milling around aimlessly watching street performers and other tourists.

On entering you will normally be asked if you are eating or just drinking. If you are drinking you will be guided to the bar on the ground level, with most of the eating being done on the balcony and, in the daytime and early evening, basement levels. The decor is modern and fairly stylish yet not pretentiously so.

The bar sports an impressive Cocktail menu and an even more impressive 250 varieties of Tequila. The massive array of bottled spirits lining the back of the bar are broken only by 3 large projection screens displaying Native American chiefs, while the animated bar staff toss bottles in the air.

Drinking here can become fairly crowded upstairs with people walking past the narrow bar to get to the toilets and tables in the rest of the building. This renders the bar area unsuitable for larger crowds in the daytime and early evening. The lower restaurant arear is cleared of tables and used as a bar later in the evening.

Both bar and table service is to a high standard with friendly staff always willing to talk you through some of the more unusual drinks on the menu. If you get in to the experimental mood you can always expect a hefty bar bill at the end of the night. The food is more reasonably priced although it can not be considered authentic South Western American due to some of the more trendy serving equipment.

Customer Reviews for Navajo Joe

Excellent bar staff who know their stock, so I never got past the ground floor! A great place to indulge your tast for the Mexican nectar!

Well, we went for the food but actually the star of the show is the basement bar. Really cool little spot and the dj was brilliant. Really nice to find a west end place thats not rammed to the rafters with ponces on the pull, just cool understated vibe and lovely deep house music. I recommend it thoroughly for the drinks and music, get your food elsewhere though! x

Unfortunately this is one restaurant I cannot provide a good review for. I went there for a birthday party do - we had to pre-order our meals (which I think were from a Xmas menu at £28-something perhead!). Drinks at the bar before dinner were ok, nothing special, and a bit pricey considering they weren't THAT fab and I know the area well and where to get better priced decent cocktails ;-) Service: Average - as it should be - not worth the extra charge we had to give for party of 10! Food: The worst I've eaten in town. I have been to a fair few eateries in my time in London, and this is the worst I have to say. Food was lukearm/cold on arrival at table. Main course was also cold and hard and the meat in my enchillada, well, just imagine your worst piece of beef and that's it! Sorry folks, I wouldn't bother - there are much better places within 5 minutes of this place and for less money. My total bill was £40! Not worth it at all.

I have been here twice. The first time was pretty dismal but the second was just shocking. My dad was over from Oz so after a busy time seeing the sights in covent garden, we thought we'd have a quick bite & a drink. It was 2pm with just one other table. we ordered light meals. After 30 minutes we were still waiting. I eventually got up to ask & we were told 5 minutes. After about 10mins both meals arrived. Dismal. Cannot believe such poor food took so long. Waitress too a second drink order from my dad (a bottle of beer) then forgot to bring it to him!! He was not impressed. Thank goodness we visited another really good restuarant before his vacation finished. This restuarant looks great & the barman makes fantastic cocktails but just does not seem to take fodd & dining seriously. The quality of the food, for the price, was a joke. Never again! ANd some-one, please wake up the waitresses!!
